Two romantically entangled corporate spies attempt to pull the ultimate con on their respective warring multinational companies. From the writer-director of Michael Clayton, and starring Julia Roberts and Clive Owen.
The tone and mood taken by the writer/director is perhaps suspect as it follows the more traditional studio mass audience fun and loving approach of "Ocean's Eleven" (2001) as opposed to the more action thrill ride of "Bourne Identity" (2002). Two other movies, "Lucky Number Slevin" (2006) and even "Matchstick Men" (2003) had more emotional intensity and compelling story lines and twists. The movie's big surprise also wasn't as appealing or satisfying as well as the nature of the business as it was portrayed. "The Devil Wears Prada" (2006) presented the fashion industry as hugely intriguing than the skincare industry in this movie. The movie, however, was entertaining, included a fascinating interplay between Roberts and Owen. The movie was relatively easy to follow and there was plenty of suspense, though a bit overplayed in one scene and a few rather stretched moments of logic. The movie held to together well and the plot was convincing, if not fantastic and special. This movie was good but it probably could have been dazzling with another director or script. 7/10.
